If you’ve ever looked at yourself in the mirror and thought that your face was a little too round, then this post is for you. We all have our insecurities, especially when it comes to our appearance. Even celebrities feel the need to tweak their features from time to time, and one common trick they use is slimming their face. This is done with help from photoshop and several photo editing tools but you don’t have to be a world-famous celebrity or a Photoshop expert to achieve the same result at home! You can get a skinnier face with just one simple trick, so keep reading to find out more…

How To Get A Skinnier Face

    1. Define Your Jawline

The first step to getting a skinnier face is to define your jawline. This is done by simply tracing the outline of your face with a sharpie marker or any other marker that you have lying around. Once you’ve done this, erase all traces of the marker from the area where you have marked, and then go over it with a makeup brush dipped in the foundation. This will help to make sure that your face looks smooth and flawless!

    2. Add Definition To Your Cheekbones

Next, add definition to your cheekbones by drawing two lines across the top of each cheekbone from ear to ear and then connect them with an ‘x’ shape on both sides of your face, like so:

    3. Add Contouring Around The Eye Area

Using a darker shade of foundation or concealer (preferably one that matches your skin tone), apply it lightly on both sides of the hollows under each eye and blend outwards towards the temples using either a beauty blender or a flat brush (both also work well!). You can also use this technique on any areas where you want to give yourself some definition; like around the nose, chin and top lip!

    4. Add Definition To Your Cheekbones

Next, add definition to your cheekbones by drawing two lines across the top of each cheekbone from ear to ear and then connect them with an ‘x’ shape on both sides of your face, like so:

    6. Apply A Layer Of Powder Over It

To finish off this look, apply a layer of loose powder over all areas where you’ve applied foundation/concealer in step 3 and blend outwards towards the temples using either a beauty blender or a flat brush (both also work well!).

How To Get A SkinnierFace With Makeup

    1.  Draw A Line Above The Jawline.

Draw an imaginary line from your under-eye, to the bridge of your nose, down your neck to the base of your throat and stop at the jawline.

    2. Draw A Second Line Below It.

Draw another imaginary line from just above your bottom lip down to the base of your throat stopping just above where you stopped drawing the first line in step 1!

    3. Draw Two Lines Across Each Cheek Bone, Stopping At Ear-To-Ear.

Draw two lines across each cheekbone (from ear to ear), stopping at ear-to-ear and then connect them with an ‘x’ shape on both sides of your face, like so:

    4. Add Contouring Around The Eye Area.

    5. Apply A Layer Of Powder Over It

To finish off this look, apply a layer of loose powder over all areas where you’ve applied foundation/concealer in step 4 and blend outwards towards the temples using either a beauty blender or a flat brush (both also work well!).

What To Buy To Get A Skinnier Face

    Contour kit

The contouring kit I’m going to recommend is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit which includes a blush, bronzer and contour shade along with 3 brushes (a small angled brush, a large fan brush and an angled highlight brush). The design is especially good as you can use all the shades together or you can use the highlighting powder one by itself. They also have some other shades but I think that this particular set will work best for my skin tone (medium tan) if you have a completely different skin tone, it’s worth giving them a try as well!

    Eyeshadow palette

The palette I’m going to recommend is of course Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit which is their signature gold/bronze palette full of warm tones that would be particularly nice for a summer look (and many more gorgeous warm looks!).

    Foundation

If you want lighter coverage, I’d go for the CoverGirl TruBlend formula which has amazing coverage but doesn’t feel thick or heavy at all! For heavier coverage try the Tarte Shape Tape foundation in Play Me Bronze or even DiorSkin Nude Radiance Compact Foundation. Both these foundations are great feel lightweight and cover very well without looking cakey at all! Just make sure that your shade matches your foundation colour in a trial before buying it though ;).

    Concealer & Powder

I recommend not just one concealer but a good duo. The ones I use are Clinique and Dior Prolongwear Concealer both of which are waterproof, long-lasting and perfect for dark circles! To set it all with a bit of glow, I generally use the Hoola Bronzer from Benefit!

    Highlighter

The highlighter is especially important as it defines your cheekbones and makes them look more prominent. I like using this for under eye area, highlighting the nose temples to add definition and above-brow bones to intensify the appearance of pointed features (like on cat eyes). To highlight the face, I’d go for this one (it’s a cream highlighter so no need for powder!)

    Lipsticks

To finish off this look, apply a layer of lipstick over all areas where you’ve applied foundation/concealer in step 4. Apply one shade lighter than your everyday wear lip colour on top of your previous lip colour so you don’t look too similar! Some shades that would work well are nude tones like MAC Cake, Blotted Lines and Betty – nude pink/brownish tones such as Estee Lauder Color Sensational and NARS Velvet Matte – pink shades such as Mac Candy Yum-Yum or NARS Flamingo Also try out matte shades like Fyrinnae Nyx or Lime Crime Velvetines Also for very pale skin tones, you can even experiment with those extremely pigmented colours which are just meant for special occasions like MAC Kadijah or NARS Othello!

    Conclusion

As you can see, it’s easy to get a skinnier face with one simple trick. And the best part is that all of the methods above don’t require a lot of effort or money. All you have to do is switch up your makeup routine, use a highlighter and contouring palette, and use a hair volumizer. It’s really that simple!
